Our Commitment

NostalgiaFlation is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to achieve this.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. The following known limitations are areas we are actively working to improve:

  • Chart Visualizations: Some interactive charts in calculators may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We provide equivalent text-based data tables where possible.
  • Third-Party Content: Advertisements served via Google AdSense are managed by Google and may not meet our accessibility standards.
  • Color Contrast: Some decorative elements may not meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio requirement, though all essential text and interactive elements do.
  • Third-party advertising: Advertisements are served inside Google AdSense frames. We do not control their markup, so we cannot guarantee the accessibility of ad content itself.

How to Use This Site With a Keyboard

Everything here works without a mouse. The parts worth knowing about:

  • Skip to content — the first Tab on any page focuses a link that jumps past the navigation straight to the main content.
  • Search — press Ctrl + K (or ⌘ + K) to open the search palette from anywhere. Arrow keys move through results, Enter opens one, Esc closes it. Focus returns to wherever you were.
  • Dialogs — the cookie banner and the search palette trap focus while open, so Tab cycles inside them rather than escaping to the page behind. Esc closes both.
  • Games — the bingo card and the quiz are operated with Tab to move and Enter or Space to select. The bingo grid's squares are real focusable controls, not decorative cells.
  • Calculators — results are announced to screen readers when they appear, because the figure updates in place without reloading the page.

Reduced Motion, Colour and Zoom

If your operating system is set to reduce motion, the decorative animation stops: particles, the aurora background, scroll reveals and counter animations are all suppressed. What is deliberately not suppressed is functionality — keyboard shortcuts, Escape-to-close and tooltips keep working, because switching those off along with the decoration would penalise exactly the people the setting is meant to help.

Text can be zoomed to 200% without content being cut off or overlapping. Charts carry text alternatives, and the price tables are real <table> markup with proper header cells rather than styled <div>s, so a screen reader can announce which row and column a figure belongs to.

Colour is never the only carrier of meaning. In the year-guessing game, for instance, a cell's colour is accompanied by a text message describing the result, so the outcome does not depend on distinguishing green from yellow.

What We Cannot Control

Two parts of the page are not ours, and it would be dishonest to claim otherwise:

  • Advertising. Ads are served inside Google AdSense frames. We do not write that markup and cannot guarantee its accessibility. If an advert on this site is unusable for you, telling us is still worthwhile — we can report it and, where a format is repeatedly a problem, disable it.
  • Embedded third-party content. Charts are rendered by a third-party library. We supply text alternatives around them, but the internals of the rendered canvas are not under our control.

We would rather list these plainly than publish a blanket conformance claim that quietly depends on ignoring them.
